Life Assurance and Unit Trust Regulatory Organisation (LAUTRO)
LAUTRO is no longer in being - please refer to the Financial Services Authority (FSA) for further information
SIB revoked the recognition of The Life Assurance and Unit Trust Regulatory Organisation (LAUTRO) as a Self-Regulatory Organisation (SRO) in June 1994. In accordance with section 10 of, and Schedule 11 to, the Financial Services Act 1986, LAUTRO received two recognitions; one as a general SRO and one as a SRO for friendly societies.
Revocation was made subject to a transitional wind-down period to provide for continuity of regulation whilst members moved to the Personal Investment Authority (PIA).
The Life Assurance and Unit Trust Regulatory Organisation (LAUTRO) is in the process of being wound up under transitional arrangements.
The PIA is carrying out the remaining regulatory responsibilities in accordance with an agreement entered into with LAUTRO.
PIA's admission procedures in respect of firms previously authorised by LAUTRO have been completed, according to the PIA's Report and Financial Statements for the year ending 31 March 1998.
LAUTRO was incorporated as YIELDAID LIMITED under company registration number 02020198 on 16th May 1986, changed its name to LAUTRO LIMITED on 1st September 1986 and was dissolved on 21st December 1999
