1. Overview
On 16 July 2008, the European Commission published its proposals for increasing the efficiency of the current legislative framework for UCITS. This represents the culmination, in the context of UCITS, of an extensive period of debate and assessment of EU investment funds, commencing with the Commission's Green Paper on investment funds in 2005, the White Paper of 2006, expert groups, open hearings and public consultation processes.
